Scabiosa (pink) from southern France?

Hello --

An avid seed collector friend of mine has just shared some seed he collected 
while on a trip to the south of France.  We are hoping maybe someone of the 
list can help with its identification.  He describes this Scabiosa as having, 
"cute little pink flowers and an overall airy look."  It was collected in the 
small town of Carcassonne.  Anybody know its Latin name, and/or some further 
description or cultural information?
