Hi Nan

Your request for help is more in Richards line than mine so here are HIS
comments.

1 Decide what you want to grow in it. Start with something simple and
easy. Annuals, herbs etc and maybe ornamental veg. anyway something which
will cope with poorish soil. Kids love growing annuals, they grow so fast.

2 Does the concrete pad restrict drainage? If so, then drill some 'weep'
holes in the walls. This one thing may do more to help than any other.

3 Use sterilised soil if you can, any pests, perennial weeds etc will
multiply alarmingly in a 'contained' environment. Manure will help only if
it is well rotted and weed free. Aliquid fertliser would satisfy most veg
needs.

Keep it simple - if this succeeds you can always add to your plant range
later.
