Climbers for beachfront gardens?

I'm having problems establishing climbers at a
beachfront hotel garden in Algarve, Portugal. I've tried Bougainvillea and
Solandra - they don't make it. Its not that the beach is violently stormy
more a question of salty breezes I think. Other plants that thrive here
include Euryops chrysanthemoides Ficus rubiginosa and Cordyline australis.
Any suggestions greatfully received.
