There is a nice old plant of Macfadyena unguis-cati (the yellow flowered evergreen Bignoniaceae) right next to the sea in the Jardin du Rayol, on the Cote d'Azur. I should think it resists pretty well to salty sea wind.
 
You can also try Clematis flammula, the native mediterranean clematis with lots of small white flowers. It grows as a ground cover on the sand dunes here near Montpellier, very close to the sea. It is more or less considered as a weed, climbing on fences and covering slopes on road sides, but I think it is quite beautiful. At this time of the year the  fluffy seeds are great to catch the autumn light.
