Hi Annie,
You have been sent a partial explanation on this, but I thought I would
amplify slightly, in case you are unfamiliar with the concept.
The current "fashion" in virus-writing is to send out a virus which - if
you "open" it - will read your email address list and send copies of
itself to each and all of those addresses, usually with some attempt to
disguise the message as having come from you.
The virsu may or may not do something nasty to your machine once
installed, but the main object appears top be to create this multiplying
cascade effect with the virus just being passed on to as many people as
possible. The big upset of "the Love Bug" some months ago was of this
kind.
It is now possible to write a virus which does not even have to have an
attachment "opened", merely going to open the post itself is enough to
activate it. It is for this reason that the more paranoid users <G> are
now being encouraged to block the automatic running of Java and
scripting hosts on their email server, since it is through these media
that this kind of virus (or Trojan Horse) operates.
