Steve French's remarks

Speaking, I think, for quite a few friends - we are using Australian species (and hybrids) because (1) deer and gophers don't touch many of them (2) they do not need much water and almost none in our summers (3) they are low maintenance (4) their blooms are unusual, beautiful, and many attract hummers and bees (5) and they have  few if any pests or diseases. So we can create beautiful gardens and avoid all the problems that most gardeners have in this part of California (Santa Cruz County). The UCSC Arboretum is responsible for introducing many of these plants into the trade over the past 24 years.  bill grant  g*@cruzio.com
