Dear Glenn,
Interesting to hear about your experience. It just shows that in
certain favourite climates these species have a tolerance to other
conditions then their natural habitat. But in our area I am afraid to
expose these precious bulbs H coccineus to these unusual conditions.
Mind the genus Haemanthus is quite large and there may be various other
species originating from the more eastern and northern locations in
South Africa which are more tolerant to humid conditions during dormancy.
