Re: Mediterranean climate regions rainfall data
Very interesting Lee
I sort of "lurk" because I am not really a medit-gardener, only an
ancient member of the group.
I have two gardens in Tasmania, one in Hobart and another 40ks further
South. Hobart's annual rainfall is supposed to be 20 inches+ but with
the warming of the atmosphere and the hole in the ozone the annual
rainfall average is getting smaller. In the country garden [garden
elevated 240 and rainfall 42 inches] the growing conditions vary.
Country garden would be classified as cool-temperate, several frosts are
experienced most Winters. Town garden has its own micro-climate and
does not experience frosts.
I can grow an enormous range of plants in the country garden, quite a
few Medit plants, as long as I choose the fewer dry areas. The town
garden can grows all medit plants but also upto semi-tropical members,
as long as I choose the damper areas

A RHODODENDRON STORY
"What Rhododendrons did you buy?" asked Mary.
When I informed her that they were Holmeslee hybrids,
she looked at me with amazement.
"But you cannot buy those, they are not registered"
