But does NE Brazil have "winter" and "summer"?  It's around ten degrees 
nearer the equator than Hawaii.  If it's cooler during the wet season, it'd 
have to be more due to  extra cloud cover than to any change in day 
length.  I'd reckon you could no more speak of it as "mediterranean" than 
you can of those parts of East Africa (Kenya etc), which have wet seasons 
in Nov and Feb (northern winter) and hardly any rain in the northern summer 
-- or the similar situation in the dryer parts of SE Indonesia and Papua.
