Jaen et al:
Indeed there are many good books on the subject. I've
read several. But when "researching", I'd rather go
to the "source" -- the people whom I respect and that
includes the members of this e-group forum. A guest
speaker is sometimes a good idea in a classroom but
the idea for this one is not to bring in ONE more
opinion but rather to share with my students the ideas
of MANY. (And I think those of you who have taught
know how hard it is to find a good guest speaker --
one who is not only knowledgable but can also teach
and can put themselves on the same page as the
curriculum.)
It could be that I did need to preface my question so
that some of the members here would not take offense.
And I am sorry for that.
But I'm beginning to wonder if a basic premise of this
e-group forum is at stake here. If we should simply
reply to the majority of the questions that pass
through this forum that there are "many good books on
the subject" (which there usually are), we negate that
useful part of this forum. And, for the sake of
brevity if nothing else, we do not ask each inquirer
to preface their question with its purpose.
I've obviously hit a sore spot among some
professionals so I will let this subject die (with my
apologies again) and will hope that others will find
it in their hearts to forgive me by letting it die as
well.
More humbly,
Joe
