Dear Medit Folks,
I'm wondering too, about the forum and how specific it becomes if some
questions shouldn't be asked. I anticipated that some of the responses to
Joe's question would be outside of the usual information imparted by books
on the subject. Designing, like teaching (which I do more of) is very
"personality dependent", and I'm sure people come up with interesting and
individual methods. While I appreciate the sensitivities to sharing "trade
secrets", I don't think anyone is in danger of giving away an essential part
of their practice.
I notice that there are lots of lengthy plant queries and answers--why are
these so different? Isn't this also availing ourselves to a greater pool of
knowledge? Often these could be answered by lengthy (or not so lengthy)
individual research as well. But we'd miss the opporunity to connect over
it.
The plant questions are great, important,
but I would also welcome hearing and sharing more about all aspects of
designing mediterranean gardens, whether the design process or design
elements or design history. I really enjoy those threads when they come up.
By the way-
Thank you David for your thoughtful reply to Joe's question...
