Thank you to everyone who responded to my query
with respect to Californian lilacs. Every time I pass the ones growing near my
house the scent of heavy honey is almost over powering. They are blooming
to perfection in this southern hemisphere spring. I hope that I can succesfully
propagate them as there are varying types in what remains of my garden, and they
do seem to do so well here.
Another plant that has survived, even thrived, on
the neglect I have thrown it ,is a crab apple I bought as a "Japanese Crab
Apple". I was wondering if anyone has had any experience growing these from
cuttings, in particular are there problems with roots not being adequate, long
term, in cutting grown plants? I don't think I am up to grafting.
