Re: Chilopsis linearis and cultivars

Thank you, Chantal, for the compliment.  My plant originally came from Jean-Jacques Viguier who used to be an advisor at the local Chambre d'Agriculture and has been an incredible  source of  help and inspiration to an Englishwoman wanting to set up a small nursery in southern France.

My Chilopsis (near Carcassonne) have survived winter lows of -10°C and are both in places with no supplementary summer irrigation.  I haven't met any of the cultivars in southern France - if they set seed and if anyone would be willing to send me some seed - I would love to try and see if we can get some different colour breaks for around here.

Hello,

I am growing the true species here in Montpellier (France) and have a very long flowering season from june till end of september with nice rose lilac flowers. I water 2 or 3 times a week in summer and I have got seed pods for the first time this year. It was planted in october 2006. I was looking for these as, now, I can give seeds to the MGS seed list and can share my crop. I do love this tree but here it is not evergreen in winter.
I bought it from Gill Pound, a very good french nursery close to me.
