Hi all
I thought I would start with a brief introduction of myself.
My name is Trevor Hughes, and I live in Observatory, Cape Town -
thats in South Africa :) I am quite keen on gardening but fairly
clueless. I have only a small garden 8m x 2m in the front of my
house that gets about half a day of full sun.
I planted some daffaodil and anenome bulbs and did not have too much
success with them. In preparation of the planting I through a couple
of bags of compost and some general fertilizer (not sure of the n:p:k
rating, but my nursery said it would be fine) and dug that in,
watered it and then waited 10 days before I planted the bulbs.
Of 100 anenmome bulbs that I planted - maybe about thirty grew. The
daffodils all sprouted but only one produced one flower. I had been
feeding them about once a month with the same fertilizer that i
originally dug in.
Anyway I am not too worried about that first falure. My qeustion is
as follows:
Can I didg up those bulbs now and will they flower again next year.
The leaves have not completely died down (my book says you should
wait for all the leaves to die before lifting. I will be going away
for 2 months or so and I want to dig up the whole garden now which is
just over run with weeds.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanx
Trevor Hughes
