I have just borrowed a copy of "Borderlines", the journal of the Half
Hardy Group of the Hardy Plant Society. One must be a member of the
Society (10 pounds sterling per year) in order to belong to the group (an
additional 3.50 pounds in the UK, and 4.50 elsewhere). Some of the
articles are on moist areas, eg "On the Trail of the Louisiana Iris", but
others are useful for Medit-gardeners. There are two gardens in Roscoff,
Brittany, that grow many exotic plants. The three acre Jardin Exotique
has an estimated 40,000 plants, many from South Africa. It is open all
year except January. The nearby Jardin Georges Delaselle, on an island,
with a sunken garden to protect from the sea wind, has many palms and
succulents, as well as tender fuchsias, daturas etc. It is open April to
September.
Does anyone know if an executive member of this group has an email address?
