Re: Sedum, "Autumn Joy"


In August, there was a flurry of discussion about this plant.  Several
people voiced dissatisfaction with its performance.  I looked at what had
been sold to me as Sedum telephium "Autumn Joy" and it was, indeed a pale
pink.  I began to think that it might be Sedum spectabile "Brilliant".

This week we had our first, light frost (about 3 weeks early, by my
records).  The "Autumn Joy" has turned a rich dark rose with coppery
overtones.  Perhaps this species just needs a little "coolth" to develop
color.
