I have several sp. of crocus naturalised in our grass here. It gets mowed but isn't irrigated over summer and so goes mostly yellow. The crocus thrive and multiply well. Too much water might be chancy unless you tried some of the sp. that come from higher up in the mountains where there is late snow-melt, it is cooler in mid-summer and there is the odd thunder shower.
