I apologize for starting the off-topic thread on gophers and moles. 
However, it can be considered on topic since without being able to
control them there is no point in planting. :-)

You'll recognize me in there, carrying a shot gun and mumbling
obscenities under my breath. LOL

I figured they served some sort of purpose other than to destroy.  I
live nearly at sea level in very sandy soil, pure sand actually, even
tho I am two hours inland from the coast.  The water runs though the
sand like a sieve, never stand even in the hardest of rains.  Maybe
since the soil is so poor the gophers serve as fertilizer with their
urine and feces and also recycle the leaves by covering them with sand.

Well, they can do without a few acres of my garden and I will continue
to try and outwit them.
 
Sorry for the diversion, now back to our regularly scheduled program.
