Nan,
The flowers on Canna 'Black Knight' are as close to sprectrum-red as is
possible--without a trace of either blue or yellow. The foliage is a dark
purplish maroon, with some brownish tinges, but not much toward the orange.
I think that Canna 'Tropicanna' would be a better combination with the
euphorbia and the salvia.
I enjoyed your internet article in the first edition of The Gardener's
Companion.
