Re: Phytolacca dioica


It does fine in San Francisco. The only in-ground
specimen I've seen grows on the top of Telegraph Hill
in full fog and wind, planted on a masonry wall, its
small caudex oozing over picturesquely. It's somewhat
deciduous. I bet it would do well in open sandy soil
and would get big pretty fast with summer water and a
little heat. Surely some Southern Californians can
chime in here...
