I've gotten compost from municipal composting places, and nothing evil
sprouted from it. I think they compost it really hot, and it kills seeds.
Now the herbicides and pesticides folks put on their gardens, that's another
thing. Many of them are biodegraded by heat, but some are not. In Sonoma
County, CA, we had a big problem with a pesticide that was showing up in
compost advertised as organic.
