Has anyone has success for reasonably quick growing evergreen trees suitable for the northern Costa Blanca for amateurs to plant?. We
need a couple of spaces filled up. Our soil is quite heavy as we are overlooking the sea but not right on the cliff edge. Mediterranean Pines grow well but I don't want cypress or similar. We are thinking about Californian Pepper Tree and Banksia. Any other suggestions gratefully received

You might also consider Cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) or Portugal Laurel (prunus lusitanicus), both of which would be very much at home in your area..
I doubt Banksias would be very happy in your heavy soil. Like all Proteaceae they demand perfect drainage, and a light stony soil suits them best. If you do decide go for one the appropriate species for your purpose would be B.integrifolia (Coastal Banksia)
