Lentisque grows happily on the maquis (acid) or the garrigue (lime), but it
is a rather slow grower, as Alessandra remarked - in the early stages, at
least. So, for that matter, are Filaire and Alaterne, but are worth the
time spent, I think. I'm told Lentisque was once used to make 'mastic', an
early form of chewing-gum.
