Re: pine tree removal

We first slept in the farm house of "Kibbenjelok" on Boxing Day. Being
such a townie, I was frightened of the silence I heard that was only
broken by strange animal noises.
Ten days later my daughter and I were sleeping alone in the house when
an enormous storm broke out. The property already had several Radiata
pines planted to give shelter about 80 years prior to our purchase. I
heard a crash in the middle of the night but decided to leave it until
morning.
To my horror, the Radiata closest to the house and the one that looked
perhaps younger and certainly in better nick but still quite a mammoth
tree, was completely upended, only just missing an ancient "pickers" hut
and an equally ancient tractor parked underneith it.
First reaction was to get rid of all the others but Kees and wisdom
prevailed, it had taken 80 years to give us some wind shelter but quite
a few times dead branches have fallen and taken fences with them. Kees
parks his retirement present to himself under one - a garden dirtied
Alpha Romeo. I wonder if you get insurance for falling branches?
Regards, Gay
