I've had small (so far) green ones here in Oakland too. So far not a huge
number but enough more than usual to be noticeable. My instincts say do
nothing
as the birds and lizards and shrews etc. relish 'em. I think this is another
"El Nino" phenomenon and will take care of itself. One non-poisonous technique
is to get a buutterfly net and hold it over a badly munched plant, shake said
plant vigorously, the 'hoppers should go up into the net.
If you've a pet lizard-yum yum!
