Garden design magazine and Mimulus aurantiacus

Hi all,
I just got this months "Garden Design" magazine and in it they
talked about the Monterey pine and pitch canker fungus. The thing that
was strange was, they has a photo of Monterey cypresses and called them
montery pines! Any yutz can tell the difference between a pine and a
cypress!

anyways, my question about Mimulus aurantiacus is, how do i go about
germinating their seeds? Stratification? Heat? or just put them in a
pot with soil and water? There are lots of these plants in Ft. Ord and
they have a very nice golden orange flower. For those who havent seen
them, theyre also perrenials with a nice upright form. Drought
resistant (obvious since they grow out in the chapparal without water
until the winter), however they're sticky all over (the seed capsules
are even sticky), hence the name, Sticky Monkey Flower.

Oh yeah i also collected seeds from Rhamnus californica (coffee berry)
and im also wondering how to germinate those too.
