I think Helichrysum Petiolarus "limelight" makes a beautiful 
low-growing perennial/groundcover in filtered shade.  There's also a 
grey and white variegated version. There are also a lot of heuchera's 
with beautiful foliage.  I'm not sure what size plants you had in 
mind...

Iceberg rose is relatively tolerant of partial shade and its white 
flowers stand out nicely in the shadows.
