Here in Zone 9 in my garden, i really have only a few plants blooming
right now. First, the Nasturtiums (Tropaeolum majus ) that have come up
from seed are all blooming. They didnt start til just a few weeks ago
when they got some size (in this area, they bloom until frost kills
them off). Mostly they are a reddish orange color, but a few plants
have a lovely deep maroon flower, and some have yellow with some red
streaks in the petals. One plant is so rampant, that from the main
vines, there are several side vines coming off. It started to grow into
a Viburnum but i untangled it so it would stay on the ground.
Also, a Salvia leucantha that a neighbor gave a division of is blooming
still (gotta love free plants!). The few stalks she gave me that had
flowers are now forming side branches with flowers of their own (the
stems originally had only terminal inflorescences). The yarrow
(Achillea millefolium) that i have is still going strong . It's still
alive and growing next to my Stipa giganteas.
