Re: Fremontodendron germination
I'd be interested in the same info about germination. As for growth rate
... here, I have one specimen that I purchased four years ago as a
4-foot shrub (5 gallon container) with quite a few branches. It's now
over 12 feet tall and just as wide. It is in a partially shady location
and has become leggy and tall because of that, I suppose. But I'm
worried about its longterm health, because in the last two years, I have
seen two other very large, mature shrubs growing on the sides of roads
die for unknown reasons. Tragic. They're such spectacular plants when
mature. Has anyone noticed mature Fremontodendrons dying this year. I
kept thinking it was the wet winters we've had lately, but the dead
plants are near others of the same size that seem uneffected. Anyone
know long do these plants live?
