Janet -
Sorry for the confusing error messages. Those were generated from
an account of a Medit-Plants subscriber which has apparently gone
bad or no longer exists. I was able to track down which e-mail ID
it was and tried a few variations in attempts to find the current
'right' one, to no avail. I have no taken that person off the
list so people who post should no longer get these messages.
I have noted your posts to the group, and your location. I also,
here in California, have some trouble with a few gingers, one which
grows very large and has handsome leafy growth, but the flowers,
when they do come, are small and not very showy - but they are
fragrant. I don't know if it is just the plant or if this one
would look better in a different climate. Some other gingers do
quite well here and require no attention to flower profusely. I
think we ought to experiment more with these interesting plants
to find a few others that will also grow easily and flower well.
(If anyone here in California is growing unusual gingers with good
success, please let me know.)
I am curious, Janet, what it is like living and gardening on Crete?
There are interesting species we try and grow here, and I imagine
there are others we've not yet tried. Any elaboration on your
local conditions and gardens would be most appreciated!
Regards,
Sean O.
P.S. Folks, please note my new e-mail address!
