One of my hybrid snapdragons made it through our 10-degree weather last
winter without covering, and I'd love to offer seed from it for those who
are interested, or trade for seed of other hardy snaps, species or hybrid,
of a different color.
This is a robust plant (3 feet tall and 2 feet wide in its second year).
Flowers have rosy-red tubes and intense velvety red snouts. Leaves were
dark red in its first year; stems are still red. It's likely
self-pollinated, since there are no other snaps in the garden (or on the
block) this year.
I daydream about living in Berkeley, where ALL snapdragons and nasturtiums
are hardy.... but until then, I remain,
