Charles, I have not noticed anyone more knowledgeable answering your query -
perhaps they did so direct - I would say both your trees are Corymbia
ficifolia, it is just that the tree is rather variable. Compare the fruits
("gumnuts") and the pattern of oil glands in the leaves (with a hand lens
against the light). Here, even experts have trouble sometimes deciding
whether something is C. ficifolia, C. calophylla or a hybrid between the two,
which are closely related but C. calphylla is usually white or pink, not red
