Triploids are usually sterile since they hybrids between diploids (2n) and tertapolids (4n). (n) is the number of chromosomes in a gametic cell (pollen or egg). Tetras in hort usually have very low viable seed set. I know diploid seed geraniums set abundant seed, while the tetraploidal varieties (most of the commercial cutting varieties) set very little seed. Al Krismer Cincinnati Zone 6
