Re: Ripe greenhouse Tomatoes

I live near some of the greenhouses that produce ripened-on-the-vine
tomatoes, using no pesticides. The vine is cut with 5 or 6 tomatoes still
attached, and sent south to California. They also ship single tomatoes.
They taste good. When I was in California the past couple of summers, our
British Columbia greenhouse tomatoes were the main tomatoes sold in the
supermarkets. I buy the odd-shaped ones very cheaply at the farm from
spring through fall, except in late summer when my own are producing
prolifically. I am growing 25 types of tomatoes in the garden this year,
and a lot of them don't taste as good as the greenhouse ones.
