I'm not saying it's COMMON here...! But we usually get a day or two
each summer which nudges up to that. If it gets up to 30, though,
people start talking about the end of the world...

Yes, agreed. And I take the 'easy to live with' to apply to humans as
well as to plants - though I sometimes think enviously about climates
with really long hot dry seasons, I know that in practice I become
fractious and mournful and take to my bed if faced with relentless sun
and blue skies.
