Autumn colour and berries
Alessandra,
I rely on many Acers, from small to large, they all
grow well. The viburnums
can be good value - great colour and red berries
[Notcutt's var sp?] or yellow
berries [V setigerum, orange-red Autumn colours and
yellow berries that mature
to red] also V opulus "Xanthocarpum" for yellow
berries and others that have red
berries maturing to black. Another favourite is V
wrightii whose red fruit
liberally glisten and V sargentii "Susquehana"
[corky bark, glistening red
berries and is deciduous] .
I also grow several varieties of Sorbus with fruit
white, pink, orange and
scarlet. One sorbus [almost my favourite plant]
has orange-brown bark and, of
course, yellow berries and with leaves colouring
bright yellow in Fall
Fraxinus augustifolia [claret ash] and Fraxinus
exelsior ["Aurea"] seem to
withstand dry conditions, seeing how many are used a
street trees in
Australia. They also grow well in my damper
conditions
