Thanks for the zone information on Acanthus. I wasn't sure if they
were hardy here and didn't want to fight a losing battle* trying to
raise them where they weren't suited. They certainly aren't being grown
in the garden around here -- although I have seen acanthus motifs (in
stone or iron) gracing some of the older buildings in Manhattan.
