Re: Winter

Thanks for the compliment on the Uvularia article. Enjoyed doing that one. One of my favorite early spring perennials... especially combined with Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia). Can't beat the blue, pink and yellow combination. Foliage is pretty decent combo as well.
Spring is finally arriving here as well. We re forecast warm rains and temps up to about 70 by mid week. That sure will make things pop. Hellebore are in full glory. Primula rosea looks like little neon lights of bright rose-red. Daffodils in the lawn are all in bloom. With the cool (cold) spring we have had this year, I think all the colors are much deeper and more intense on all the blooms thus far this spring.

Reading your frustrations at the weather certainly struck a familiar cord
this side of the Atlantic, this must have been the longest, wettest, most
overcast, depressing winters I have ever known!
BUT !!!!!
We have just had 4 consequetive days when it didn't rain, well only drizzle,
and some SUN, it makes so much difference, the daffs are out, primroses,
Violets and wood anemone, and you get this great surge of enthusiasm youself,
which is just as well as you see the thirty-six jobs that need doing
yesterday, but who cares, it just makes your heart glad.
I hope you don't have too long to wait for your spring!
and Gene I enjoyed your piece in NARGS bulletin on Uvularia's I am hoping for
some from seed recently sown.
