RE: Asian Ladybug infestation

Found a pic of some here
http://beelab.cas.psu.edu/P-gals/Gal3/Coleop/cole04.html. Aren't those just
normal ladybugs?? And ladybugs are carnivorous (garden friends). I
remember as a child having a special fascination with them, then going to
Michigan near the lake and seeing a log with "millions" of them crawling on
it! Shock!! I never felt real special about them again. So I guess if my
house were a different color....But I do like to see them in moderation
around my garden.

Not seeing a problem here in E. Central IL.

I understand - record temp in the upper 70s here today. Finally got out
and started my cleanup. As usual, a day late and a dollar short,
especially on some of my ornamental grasses. I'm still amazed at what
stayed green through a colder than usual December such as my Wal-Mart
violas. They even kept some of their flowers! Not sure, but I think one
of my Euphorbias didn't make it, will wait awhile longer and see what
happens. About the only thing I've seen blooming around here so far are
daffodils, crocus, and forsythia - about normal around here for this
time of year.

Another joy (ha-ha) of the warm weather arriving is the Asian Ladybug
has returned. They were bad last fall - couldn't get in the car without
a dozen getting in with you. Now we have a slew of them in our ground
level basement. They are all in my husband's work area and are driving
him crazy. Anybody have any ideas of how to get rid of the ones inside
the house? If I can find some I thought of trying the sticky fly strips.
Apparently there is something different about the Asian variety (from
our domestic variety) according to my sister, but I can't remember what
it is. This difference puts them into the pest category. A guy I work
with said a couple of years ago they were so bad he couldn't tell what
color his house was because the house was coverd with them.
