Re: Dealing with people picking your flowers

As I sifted through all the responses to this subject I began to think of the
kids in my neighborhood. I have the exact opposite feeling of everyone who
responded to this topic. Whenever the kids have walked by while I was
working in my beds I would invite them to come and pick some flowers for
their houses. This simple gesture on my part has led to a wonderful
experience for me and for them as well. I quiz the kids in my neighborhood
about the names of flowers and various information about the plant. It has
also led to volunteer work around my yard. I enjoy the bright faces who
knock on my door and ask me to come out and pick the flowers. They have all
learned to moderate their picking and I have had more than one parent come to
thank me for the splendid bouquets!!

Take a different perspective! Do you want people to drive down the road and
say "Lovely garden, cranky owner!"
