Ceres, I'm not sure I can answer your question. Here in zone 8 the grasses
fill out and look pretty good in 2 growing seasons except for the big ones
like Miscanthus. I think they need 3 years to bulk up and achieve maximum
height.

Marilyn, how long must a Deschampsia 'Northern Lights' need to mature?
Perhaps it is a victim to our extream cold winters and hot summers. I love
the foliage color and had hoped it would do well. Mine gets morning east
sun.
