need help; siberian irises

Greetings:  I bought three siberian iris in soil in a plastic bag;

the shoots are well grown;

here in NYS zone 5ish, last week it was in the 60's and this week
there's snow on the ground, and it goes into the 20's at night;

I was going to put these in somewhere near the stream that runs by the
house;

if I do that now, won't the frosts affect them?

Should I be prepared to cover them when necessary?
