Here in the PNW we had a brief taste of SPRING but the snow
level is dropping in the next few days to 1000 feet or a bit lower..
we're at about 500 feet here. On Saturday it was 74 in the shade
and on Sunday about 70.. it was oh so nice!!
Daughter and her BF and I went fishing down in our creek and I
didn't care if I caught anything or not.. I just cast out and leaned
back on my day pack and caught some sun.. it was great!! Almost
fell asleep.
The columnar apples in the wine barrels on the patio are in bud
stage, BIG bud stage and the tulips and daffy's are all blooming;
the prunes, plums, almond and apricot trees have all bloomed; of
course the weeds are blooming. The earthworms are on the
surface and the daffney is still perfuming the yard.
Mowed the lawn for the first time; emptied all the "water holders" of
their first hatch of mosquitoes and noticed the honey bees and the
orchard bees are out.
I walk around the yard every morning to see what else has either
bloomed or is going to shortly.. the changes are happening daily
now. Everything is showing green and I've been managing to stay
OUT of the nurseries so far. Keep myself busy with the lambs and
kids (goats). Boy is it hard to stay out of the dirt.. it's just not
ready and I'd end up with huge dirt clods in the garden if I messed
with it.
I think around here one of the best and first things to happen is
hearing the robins talking to each other in the early morning. The
hummingbirds are passing through, just stopping long enough to
check out the forsythia on their way to wherever they're going. My
hummingbirds aren't here yet.. the swallows haven't arrived so I
know we're going to have a later spring than usual.. just seems like
last week that they left for warmer climes..
Enjoy the anticipation !!!!!!!
