Re: Heuchera 'Amber Waves'

funny you ask, Debra. I have a pot of amber waves on my patio that has been sitting there for almost a year. It was a gift from the grower and I've not planted it because I am not so sure I like the color. I'll go put it with some burgundy foliage plants and see if it is any better.

One interesting point... you are in a region where the light is soft and muted by the humidity in the atmosphere. I am in a region of bright, blasting light. It could be that in your light, the muddy gold color leaves look better than in my light.....

Hello perennial gurus. I have had a lively conversation with other gardeners about H. 'Amber Waves' recently. When I first discovered it last year in a local nursery, I was intrigued but not sure I liked the color. This year I decided to try it with some purple foliage plants and now I think the gold-amber is quite stunning with burgundies and purple foliage. I just did a tall pot with a burgundy phormium, Amber waves and a small creeping rubrus to trail. I think it looks very architectural and the color and texture combos I am really liking.

How is your reaction to this Heuchera that is touted as being the new neutral (which I wouldn't describe as a neutral at all). Anyone else growing it? Anyone not like the color of this plant?
