Mine looked very much like Chris’ photo. I can’t get a photo now as the leaves have grown up and the buds that are left are hiding below. They were closed when I picked them to count petals. I did find this pic from 2006 though. Kitty From: owner-perennials@hort.net [mailto:owner-perennials@hort.net] On Behalf Of Nancy Robinson
Kitty, can you still get a picture? I like to know what I am missing. None of mine have anything like that many petals. Thanks, Nancy To: p*@hort.net Graham, Was about to say it was too late as I thought mine were already done. But I just went out to check and there are a few flowers yet below the leaves. They look a bit whimpier than the ones that were flowering last week, but I pulled 3 to see what they had. Petal counts were 48, 49, and 53. I got mine in 2003 from Ellen Hornig’s Seneca Hill. (I actually found my invoice) She labeled them as Sanguinaria Canadensis ‘Multiplex’. The patch has spread slowly, but they are just so lovely. I look forward to them every spring.

Yes, Chris, this is a lovely plant.
Can I ask everyone a favor? If you grow this plant, or any of the named forms of bloodroot, can you please pick a flower or two from your clump, pull each flower apart and count the petals? I'm doing some research on the named varieties for the RHS and it would be really useful to have that kind of input. If you feel like measuring a petal or two as well, that would be even better.
