My variegated weeping holly, one of two on either side of path, was dropping 
leaves.  Watched it for several weeks and finally stuck finger down in roots. 
 Those voles were having a winter long party down there.  Put sevin in holes 
and sealed holes with good soil.  Saved that small tree since new leaves are 
coming out.  Miss that cat every day.  Nancy

anything eating the roots maybe try that. It may have been done at the 
seedling stage at the nursery. I Just replanted  and they  still have a 
garlic smell.
