Yep, voles. Nancy, time to get another cat. I always had indoor/outdoor cats
until about 7 yrs ago, then just indoor ones. That year all sorts of vermin
invaded once the word spread. I then trained the oldest and then the other
two to be I/O cats and then the two newer cats, now 2.5 yrs old are I/O. Even
if they never catch a thing, their presence keeps the bunnies, voles,
chipmunks in check.

Cheryl, it can be devastating to lose precious plants; would you be able to
get a dog or cat to help out?

Kitty

My variegated weeping holly, one of two on either side of path, was dropping
leaves. Watched it for several weeks and finally stuck finger down in roots.
Those voles were having a winter long party down there. Put sevin in holes
and sealed holes with good soil. Saved that small tree since new leaves are
coming out. Miss that cat every day. Nancy

I bought plants, Fritilaria last year and they come with Garlic to deter
anything eating the roots maybe try that. It may have been done at the
seedling stage at the nursery. I Just replanted and they still have a
garlic smell.
