Polly:
I have both Dr. Deno's original book and his first suplement.
In his germination trials for species requiring cold, then
warm conditions, I believe he always used 3 months cold treatment.
I suppose he wanted the time period to be constant between all
species, and that 3 months was the logical time span to mimic
spring conditions.
The last 2 winters I started several varieties requiring cold then
warm conditions, and for many of these varieties I found 4-6 weeks
of cold was all that was required for germination.
For other folks out there who have Deno's germination book(s), do
you all use 3 months cold treatment for all species?
