I've divided ajuga and shasta daisy several times. I've pretty heartless
about it.
Practically dig it up and rip it apart then replant it. The Shastas are limp
for a couple of weeks (even 3-4" ones need temporary staking); but, they come
back quick - and
are very healthy. Ajuga - as my mother says - you almost can't kill it. She
uses
it as a groundcover lawn.
