This works for me, but our winds come from an expected direction (most of
the time). Plant your plants and over each place a 3-ring tomato cage
topped with a doubled sheet of standard newspaper held on by clothespins.
Your plants will get early morning sun and late afternoon sun, but not the
overhead burning heat-of- the-day sun. Place a wind barrier such as a
wooden shingle shoved into the ground on the windward side of each plant.
And hope you don't get a downpour that destroys your cover before you can
